The United Nations Association in Canada (UNAC) is a national charitable organization established in 1946. Our mandate is to engage the Canadian public in the work of the United Nations and the critical international issues which affect us all. We accomplish our goals through educating ourselves and interacting with the public.
We sponsor three events, regularly, each year as well as rallies and vigils for domestic and international developments as needed. The three regular events are: UN Environment Day - June 5, a Hiroshima Remembrance - August 6 and the UN International Day of Peace - September 21. For events, past and future, select "Events" from the Index at the left.
At the UN International Day of Peace rally, we start a campaign for funds in support of a domestic or international concern chosen by the membership. This campaign continues until Human Rights Day, December 10. For 2006 we have chosen to support the the victims of the recent and ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
